The efficiency of an L-shaped matching circuit consisting of two reactive elements is formulated. The efficiency formula is given in terms of the two port impedances to match, and the quality factors of the reactive elements. ("quality factor" means |x|/r of impedance Z=r+jx.) Since the formula is valid even if the port impedances are complex, or have reactances, it is useful for applications say wireless power transmission in which load impedances tend to have large reactances. There are at least two configurations available when we are to match two impedances. We also mention these options here and introduce an intuitive procedure to choose the most efficient one using Manhattan distance and Voronoi map. |
