A Verification Method for k-Secrecy of XML Databases by Model Counting
Takatoshi Asai, Masanori Uesugi, Kenji Hashimoto, Hiroyuki Seki (Nagoya Univ.) SS2015-15
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) An inference attack is a malicious way to obtain the result of an unauthorized query
by combining the database schema, the results of the authorized queries and the code
(meaning) of the queries.
A database instance is $k$-secret if an attacker cannot narrow down the candidates
of the results of the unauthorized query to less than $k$.
This paper proposes a method of deciding a sufficient condition of $k$-secrecy
by reducing the problem to a model counting problem for the propositional logic.
The paper shows the experimental results conducted on the verification tool based
on the proposed method.
Furthermore, we provide an upper-bound of the size of a candidate database instance
so that our sufficient condition of $k$-secrecy becomes a necessary condition.
