Study of Power Consumption and Delay by Data Aggregation in Wireless Sensor Networks

(in English) In wireless sensor networks, to suppress power consumption is an important issue. Usually, when a router relays the data from other nodes, there may be unused slot in a packet, because data size is smaller than the packet size. Therefore, it is possible to save the power by the data aggregation which transmits multiple data in one packet waiting for arriving them. However, the delay is inevitable. In this paper at first, we evaluate the relation between the suppressing power consumption and the delay with simulation by the threshold transmission method, which transmits a packet when the number of aggregated data reaches a predetermined value. Furthermore, as another method, we propose the limited delay method which transmits data within upper limit delay time. And, we compare with these methods and show the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
