Discrimination of Forearm's Motions using Evaluation Values of Muscular Activity based on Wavelet Coefficients of Surface EMG

(in English) We develop a myoelectric forearm prosthesis.
In our previous work, we used wavelet coefficients,
which are extracted at noise reduction based on wavelet shrinkage,
as parameters for recognition.
We reduced the dimension of them to 3-dimension by LFDA,
and got a good result of 5 motions recognition with 4 channels of EMG. However, the method couldn't show a good recognition result about more motions with more channels. On the other hand, RMS, mean power frequency, and so on are generally used to evaluate muscular activity. But it is inefficient to do inverse wavelet transform to get such values. In this paper, we calculate 2 types (signal power and frequency) of evaluation values about muscular activities from wavelet coefficients. And by using them as parameters for recognition, we attempt 9 motions recognition with 8 channels of EMG.
