TV white-space (TVWS) communication systems have been globally researched and developed due to its wide frequency range and superior propagation characteristics. Also, an output power of EIRP +36 dBm is permitted as the maximum output power for fixed devices in some operational rules regulated in the U.S.A., the U.K., etc., and thus, the TVWS has been strongly expected for the long distance transmission systems. On the other hand, stern RF characteristics, e.g. adjacent channel power leakage, are required for the hardware prototypes not to interfere with primary users and there are still some challenges to enable high output power without interference. In this study, IEEE 802.11af-based hardware prototypes with a high output power of +30 dBm at the antenna port have been developed. RF characteristics of the prototypes comply with the operational rule regulated by the Ofcom. In addition, field experiment of long distance transmission system was performed in London urban area. |
