When disaster happens in urban areas, it is essential to estimate the locations of survivors and rescues works in buildings, however, conventional localization systems do not work well in such indoor environments. It is possible to localize a target in a building by using the received signal strengths (RSS) which are measured at receivers located outdoors for the wireless signal transmitted from the target located at the inside of the building, however, in this case, to achieve a high localization accuracy, attenuation map is required for the building which is calculated according to its internal architectural structure. In this paper, dividing a three-dimensional space to several slices in height direction, we apply two-dimensional wireless tomography for each of the slices to obtain its attenuation map. We discuss the achievable resolution of attenuation maps obtained by an experiment in an anechoic chamber. |
