Analysis on Broadband Characteristics for Wide-Angle Planar Antenna

(in English) Broadband characteristics of wide-angle antennas were analyzed for planar sectorial antennas on a substrate. Electromagnetic fields inside and outside the antenna were expressed analytically by expanding the fields with eigen-functions satisfying the boundary conditions, where TE waves were neglected. Obtained formulae were numerically estimated, and broadband characteristics were shown to be obtained for the wide-angle antennas. With fabricated antennas, measured input impedances agreed well with the numerical data. As for the radiation patterns, whereas the analytical data agree well with simulated and measured data for the narrow-angle antennas, higher order modes for the ϕ orientation should be considered for the wide-angle antennas.
