Design of Microstrip Bandpass Filter with Transmission Zeros Using Half-wavelength Resonator Transversal Array

(in English) We have reported a new design method for multi-mode bandpass filters with transmission zeros (TZs) based on a synthesis theory of transversal array filters. However, there is a problem that external Q factors of multiple resonances are very hard to control independently, since multiple resonant modes are excited with a single feeding line. This paper proposes a new and simple structure of microstrip bandpass filter having TZs, which is constructed by the parallel arrangement of even- and odd-mode microstrip half-wavelength resonators. This filter structure makes it possible to easily control the external Q factor of each resonator, thereby generating TZs at arbitrary finite frequency positions with the control of external Q factors without using any non-adjacent couplings. As an example, we design a bandpass filter with 2-GHz center frequency, 6% bandwidth in passband, and four TZs located very near the passband, resulting in very high skirt selectivity. Finally, the validity of the pro-posed structure is verified by the comparison between the simulated and measured results.
