| (in English) | The emergence of high-speed mobile devices such as smartphones and of data-intensive applications causes the rapid growth of mobile data traffic. In order to meet the market demands for the capacity increase of wireless networks, high-speed wireless systems such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) are being deployed. In addition, Centralized Radio Access Network (C-RAN) architecture, which has advanced features to enhance the LTE signal quality, expected to be introduced. This paper reviews the required specifications to optical fronthaul links for C-RAN and presents a I/Q data compression scheme and a desirable architecture for next-generation optical access networks. | |
