To develop a multi-line refreshable braille display, we devised a dot controlling mechanism by using a movable top panel and latching. When the panel is raised, braille text is refreshable and when the panel is lowered, braille text is fixed and ready for reading. Braille pins are refreshable and/or fixed depending on the state of the latch mounted at the side of each pin. To test the feasibility of this mechanism, a prototype for one braille cell was developed. |
