(in English) To decoratively design letters is often called lettering. In this paper, participants evaluated lettering patterns with attached shadows in the sides of the letter shapes. As a result, we have clarified that sans-serif typefaces give a functional and a massive feelings, and script typefaces give an artistic feeling. In addition, representation of attached shadow is compatible with fonts that are constructed of thick strokes. Also, in the case that the sides of the letter shapes are constructed by perspective projection, the depth representation enhances functionality. In contrast, the depth representation based on parallel projection enhances a massive feeling.
