Electrical design is usually made by using the concept based on electric circuit theory.
Nowadays it becomes important to take into account of electromagnetic (EM) fields caused by devices and parts to prevent electromagnetic inteference.
Moreover it needs to satisfy regulations/rules regarding electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
To make an electrical design concurrently, EM-field simulators are often used to analyze
EM fields in a complex layout on a circuit board.
But this concept is on analysis, so that it may need to make some trials to accomplish the circuit performance.
In this paper, we propose a concurrent design method by applying a multi-objective satisfactory design method to electrical circuit design.
The method, named preference set-based design (PSD), is used, which is developed in the field of mechanical engineering.
As the first example of application of PSD to the circuit design, microstrip-line sets in parallel and/or non-parallel on a printed circuit board are designed for the transmission-line layout to be satisfied with the required performances of transmission characteristics.
The design parameters, the line width, space, length, etc., are obtained in ranges, not specified number.
By using the design parameters obtained by the PSD method, the validity of the method is discussed based on the comparison between the experimental and numerically calculated results. |
