This paper proposes a computation method of log likelihood ratio (LLR) of frequency domain equalizer (FDE) output in presence of phase noise for single carrier millimeter-wave (mmW) transmissions with low density parity check (LDPC) coded space-time block code (STBC). In mmW systems, local oscillators at both transmitter and receiver are suffering from severe phase noise while operating much higher frequency bands. In order to mitigate the impairment of phase noise, STBC and forward error correction (FEC), such as LDPC, techniques are effective tools. However, if the probabilistic model does not capture exact behavior of a random process on received signal, the capability of FEC is severely deteriorated. To address this issue, we appropriately define approximated LLR of FDE output for LDPC coded STBC. We have demonstrated that the derived LLR is capable of improving bit error rate (BER) performances in the presence of phase noise. |
