Let us assume that space division multiplexing (SDM) signals without precoding are transmitted from a base station (BS) with a number of antennas to mobile stations (MSs) with fewer antennas. It will be intractable for a MS to decode the SDM signals by linear space filtering in the case of less freedom of antennas in the MS. A decoding method has been proposed to decode the SDM signals by sharing SDM signals received at the other MSs using a higher frequency band. Radio over higher-frequency radio (RoHR) is a forwarding technology to share the received signals among the MSs and gain the freedom of antennas virtually. In this paper, we propose short slot reservation time division multiple access (SSR-TDMA) with the function of carrier sense as a medium access control (MAC) protocol for the higher frequency band and evaluate its performances. The results show that the proposed SSR-TDMA is superior to the conventional carrier-sense multiple access with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) in throughput and protocol overhead. |
