A New Method of Approximation for Computing Failure Frequency of System
Masahiro Hayashi (Tokyo City Univ.) CQ2015-35
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) An approximation method for computing the frequency of system failure is proposed. We took a conventional approximation that uses multilinear polynomials to compute the lower and upper bounds of system availability and transform it to compute the lower and upper bounds of system failure frequency without increasing the order of computing complexity. Most of the currently used high-speed approximation methods that compute the lower and upper bounds of availability use multilinear polynomials, so it is a relatively simple matter to transform these methods into new ones for computing the failure frequency while preserving their speed and accuracy. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method can compute system failure frequency with both high speed and high accuracy.
