[Encouragement Talk] A Proposal of Unbiased Estimation Using Active Measurement for Access Delay of Wireless Communications

(in English) In active measurements in which probe packets are injected into a target network, there is a problem wherein probe packets perturb the network state. In our previous works, the problem has been discussed in the field of wired networks. The problem, however, remarkably appears in wireless environments where bandwidth is severely constrained. In this paper, we show that there is an accuracy bound when we measure a distribution of access delay on IEEE 802.11 MAC. Moreover, we also propose modification method in which we modify a distribution of access delay that is experienced by probe frames to estimate a distribution of access delay that is experienced by user frames on a network without probe. By using simulations, we confirm that our method can appropriately estimate the distribution
