[Invited Lecture] Terminal control scheme using spatial information for reducing battery consumption in multi-band cellular network

(in English) A multi-band cellular network,
which utilizes both micro cell with high frequencies such as millimeter wave and macro cell with conventional low frequencies cooperatively,
is a promising architecture for responding high traffic volume in 5G mobile network.
The mobile terminals, however, should have the electronic circuits for each frequency used in the network
and the circuits should be powered on or off according to the radio environment around the terminal for energy saving.
In this paper, we propose an energy saving system for mobile terminals in the multi-band cellular network
which controls the power of the circuit, and analyze the reduction of battery consumption with our system.
