Rotational alignment of multi-core fiber using side cladding excitation

(in English) Connection of multi-core fiber require precise alignment of rotational angle of the fiber. We demonstrate on-site power monitoring technique for multi-core fiber connection. Light source is located at the fiber side, instead of the input end of the fiber. Monitor light is coupled to the cladding of the multi-core fiber using side cladding excitation technique. It was confirmed that rotational angle can be adjusted easily. This method can reduce positioning accuracy rathe
r than using conventional side core excitation method.
