Opportunistic Routing Based on Terminal Density and Terminal Distance

(in English) In ad hoc networks, OR (opportunistic routing) that opportunistically selects forwarders based on random backoff time has been proposed. In the conventional protocols, the forwarder selection strongly depends on the backoff time randomization. It causes unnecessary packet forwarding and degrades the transmission efficiency. This paper proposes a more efficient forwarder selection method using the ratio of bypass or shortcut links, which realizes the forwarder prioritization based on a distance to the destination. In addition, each forwarder restricts the retransmission control, if there exists more neighbours than the threshold, to suppress the degradation of transmission efficiency under dense environment.
