[Encouragement Talk] Cache Decision Policy for Breadcrumbs in Wireless Multi-hop Cache Networks

(in English) In our previous paper, we have already revealed that the overall throughput is significantly improved with Breadcrumbs in wireless multi-hop networks. Breadcrumbs can distribute high popularity content traffic towards network edge part, which enables low popularity content to be effectively downloaded from the gateway node. In our previous work, widely-used cache decision policy, Transparent En-Route Cache, is applied. TERC has a tendency that high-popularity content is replaced especially around the gateway node because nodes close to the gateway generally transport not only high-popularity but also low-popularity content. In this paper, we propose a new cache decision policy, Receiver Cache, where only the receiver node caches received content. Our simulation results show that our proposed Receiver Cache policy prevents frequent replacement of cached content, which reduces invalid Breadcrumbs trails to be remained. Our simulation results also show that Receiver Cache policy improves total throughput performance of Breadcrumbs.
