Performance Evaluations of a Digital Watermarking Scheme for Recovery of Erasures in JPEG Images

(in English) In this paper, we propose a digital watermarking scheme for recovery of erased regions in JPEG images using the LT code, where the LT code is a rateless erasure correction code. In our scheme, given a JPEG image, we encode certain information for recovery to an LT codeword and embed all components of the LT codewords to the quantized DCT coefficients of the JPEG image. When we want to recover the JPEG image, we first regard a certain region as erased and then restore the region by decoding the LT codeword embedded in the remaining region. We show that plural erased regions can be reproduced even if the number of the erased MCUs (minimum coded unit) are about 25% of the whole image by computer simulation.
