A Study on Listen Before Talk enabling Frequency Reuse for LTE Licensed-Assisted Access using Unlicensed Band

(in English) A License-Assisted Access (LAA) is being studied in the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) release 13. In LAA operation, Long Term Evolution (LTE) is operated in unlicensed bands. Listen Before Talk (LBT) is important issue for LAA in order to realize a fair co-existence with other wireless access system such as Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). For the LBT, transmission signals from LAA node have to be transmitted after identifying a channel being clear. However, although LTE has been specified considering frequency reuse 1 operation, introducing WLAN like LBT into LAA results in increase of the frequency reuse factor. In this paper, we study on LBT considering the frequency reuse 1 operation for LAA, and evaluate performance results of LAA using the LBT and impacts on WLAN through system level simulations.
