Magnetron is commonly used as a source of microwave oven because of its high efficiency, low cost, and lightweight.
However its short lifetime and noise generation is necessary to be improved.
In this study, we focus on back bombardment, which damages the filament cathode of magnetron and reduces the lifetime.
We conducted 3D PIC simulations to estimate the back bombardment quantitatively.
When we changed the helix coil model with square cross-section, we could predict that there is the appropriate number of turns to reduce the back bombardment. |
