This work presents a 60 GHz millimeter wave access point prototype, targeting multiuser Gigabit radio access in a dense environment such as an office room, an event site and a press room. The prototype mounts 3 antenna modules, each of which covers 120 degree directional angle by using beamforming technology. This architecture enables achieving up to 3 concurrent Gigabit links per access point over 360 degree wide area coverage. Using the access point installed at the height of 1.3 m, measurement demonstrates excellent performance of 1.0 Gbps MAC throughput with 2 m cell radius. |
