With increase of mobile communication traffic, scarcity of radio resources for mobile networks is getting serious problem. As one of the approaches to improve the efficiency of radio resource usage, the cognitive radio technology has been developed to dynamically utilize the best channels or networks to optimize the network performance. In this paper, we design and implement a cognitive radio model; observing radio network environment, modeling the network performance based on the observation, and optimizing the selection of the network parameters such as the modulation scheme, the transmission power and so on. We evaluate the performance of our implemented system in wireless LANs, and show improvement of throughput performance by our proposed system. As results, we confirm effectiveness of the proposed approach in a real environment. |
