Transmission experiments for UHDTV using 12 GHz band satellite broadcasting

(in English) A technical standard for a satellite transmission system (ARIB STD-B44 ver. 2.0) has been drawn up for 4K/8K UHDTV services. A roll-off factor of 0.03 was adopted in the new transmission system. The symbol rate could be increased to 33.7561 Mbaud due to the roll-off factor of 0.03. The transmission system covers π/2-shift BPSK, QPSK, 8PSK, 16APSK, and 32APSK modulation schemes and 1/3, 2/5, 1/2, 3/5, 2/3, 3/4, 7/9, 4/5, 5/6, 7/8, and 9/10 LDPC inner coding rates. We conducted transmission experiments for all kinds of modulation schemes and inner coding rates (55 in total) using 12 GHz band (BS-17ch) satellite broadcasting to verify the feasibility of the transmission system. We report the performance evaluation for the transmission experiments.
