Interconnection Study for Step Index Multimode Fiber Using f-theta Imaging of Encircled Angular Flux Measurement Method

(in English) Encircled angular flux (EAF) is a new metric for defining modal power distribution (MPD) on step index multimode fiber (SI-MMF). Presented herein is to introduce EAF measurement method and a developed measurement apparatus of the f-theta imaging which is one of the standardized EAF measurement methods. We report measurement reproducibility of the apparatus, and coupling analyses of optical connector focusing on MPD change and attenuation at a connection. Then, a simple quasi-equilibrium mode distribution (EMD) launch source which is a necessary device for optical measurement as a future defined launch condition are discussed.
