When a connector has contaminated surfaces or weak contact force, nonuniform current distribution between the real contact points causes unintended electromagnetic radiation in high-frequency. Roughness of surface structure raises small inductance at the contact points which increases the radiation. The authors have proposed a contact failure model of a coaxial connector which simulates connector surface structure, and reported that current paths increase in length around the lost contact points which effect on self-inductance at the contact points. An consideration on mutual inductance caused from magnetic couplings between contact points is introduced, and the estimated inductance approximately corresponds to the values by electromagnetic simulation. |
