Network slice management method for low cost networking under variable service requirements

(in English) 5G era services are expected to come with diverse and conflicting requirements. Accommodating such diverse range of services in one monolithic EPC type of network is very difficult, and sometimes impossible when extreme network performance is required. In the research proposal presentation, the concept of slicing, which creates logically isolated virtual networks for different services was presented. This helps in accommodating services which have extreme network requirements. However, slices lose the multiplexing gain available in conventional monolithic networks, leading to resource wastage. In this dissertation, a new algorithm which automates the service grouping and slice creation/accommodation process but with reduced cost is proposed. Along with that, referring future services defined in NGMN, the per-group slicing concept is evaluated.
