It has been reported that therapeutic value of cancer chronotherapy depends on treatment time of the day. This effect, the circadian time dependency of treatment, has been considered to come from interactions between the cell cycle and circadian rhythm. In this study, we aimed to clarify possible biological mechanism underlying this effect based on a cell proliferation model under the influence of intracellular circadian rhythm within a framework of stochastic automaton. We simulated the proliferation dynamics of cancer cell population under the chronotherapeutic drug treatment. As a result, we found that the therapeutic effects depend on the timing of drug administration. Furthermore, it was suggested that this dependency was caused by synchronization properties between the cell cycle and circadian rhythm. |
