Smart city is the trending terminology amongst local governments in recent years worldwide. Many want to transform their city to become ?smart? in their own definition. Although the definition of ?smart city? might differ from one country to another, the end game is still the same which is to improve the city management and to provide better services to the public. Malaysia, under various organisation have also embarked into the initiatives to develop its own smart city. Agensi Angkasa Negara (ANGKASA), a government space agency, in collaboration with its partners including a few local governments are currently involving in smart city development. ANGKASA is interested to explore the potential of utilizing space technology application to provide better smart city applications to the public. Thus, this paper aims to explore the potential of space technology to provide enhanced smart city solution in Malaysia. The scope of discussion in this paper is mainly in accordance to but not limited to local context and local implementation. |
