Ground penetrating radar (GPR) is applied to inspect buried objects or concrete structures. In this case difference of permittivity between target and medium are large, so we can expect strong reflection. When we apply GPR for inspect wooden structure, the difference of permittivity should be small. So it is important to understand electrical characteristics of the wood for each frequency in order to select suitable frequency band. In this report we measured permittivity of wood from 1MHz to 93GHz. As a result of these experiments the frequency band around 20GHz is suitable for our radar. |
