Design of Broad-Band Bandpass Filters with Transmission Zeros Using Short-Circuited Transmission Line Stubs

(in English) Broadband bandpass filters (BPFs) using short-circuited stubs have a number of advantages, like rigorous synthesis theory for Chebyshev response, no coupling gaps with small gap-widths, and are thereby ease for fabrication. However, the filter size and insertion loss will become large if a high frequency selectivity is required, because the number of resonators of the filter will have to be increased since its Chebyshev response has no transmission zeros in the stopband. In this paper, with combined use of short-circuited stubs and a stepped-impedance open stub, a novel broadband BPF having multiple transmission zeros is proposed and its design method is developed. A BPF with a fractional bandwidth of 40% is designed and fabricated, and the measured filter response shows the desired wide passband with sharp skirt property, low-loss, and wide stopband formed by the designed multiple transmission zeros.
