Simplex multicore fiber connector with physical-contact connection

(in English) We clarified physical contact conditions for multicore fiber connector by investigating the relationship between ferrule-end structures and compression force both numerically and experimentally. In addition, we devised an SC-type rotational MCF connector with high alignment accuracy. We confirmed that our MCF connector with PC connection provides a sufficiently high return loss exceeding 50 dB and a sufficiently low connection loss of below 0.2 dB for all the cores of a 7-core single-mode MCF.
