Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The smart phone user has switched the setting of Wi-Fi by the user. Because when Wi-Fi is used while always turned on, the battery is consumed. Cell information where access point (AP) that can be connected exists is transmitted from the ANDSF(Access network discovery and selection function) server to a smart phone as measures, and the technology that turns on the setting of Wi-Fi by the automatic operation is developed in each cell with wide area based on the cell information. However, because the access point that can be connected with all cells exists under the present situation, the control of Wi-Fi is always the same as the state of turning on. Authors developed a new technology for this. It is a method of stopping operation that searches for the access point when determining that there is no connectivity by using access point information that a smart phone collects by the Scan operation. And, it is a method of restarting the search operation when a smart phone detects the movement with pedometer. As a result, unnecessary search operation of the Wi-Fi access point was reduced, and the power saving of a smart phone became possible.
