A contents distribution scheme based on domatic partition of ad hoc networks

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this paper, we propose contents distribution protocols for wireless ad hoc networks.
In our scenario, a base station wish to send contents from a server to all the
clients in an ad hoc network via wireless connection.
We assume that the number of simultaneous connections from the base station to clients
is limited and that a client is able to use local broadcast to distribute the contents its neighborhood.
In the proposed protocol, in the first phase,
a base station sends contents to a subset of clients called mediators.
The mediators correspond to a dominating set of the ad hoc network.
In the second phase, each mediator broadcasts own contents to the neighboring nodes.
The proposed scheme can reduce energy consumption of the mediators for local broadcasting
by switching mediators uniformly at random. The mediators are determined by a domatic partition of the network.
The results of computer experiments indicate the advantages of the proposed protocol:
reduction on a total number of connections to the clients from a base station and
reduction of the energy consumption of mediators.
