When navigation satellite systems such as GPS are employed for time synchronization, degradation of synchronization accuracy due to reduction of number of receivable satellites and multipath signal will be a problem. We estimate signal detection characteristics of GPS satellites from spatial information around the GPS antenna and experimentally evaluate status of a multipath signal as well as degradation of time synchronization precision for non-ideal condition for GPS signal detection. We propose network-assisted GPS time synchronization which selects timing of synchronization to GPS satellites and satellites to be used for synchronization (Active Navigation Satellite Selection : ANSS), and conduct proactive holdover during time period inappropriate for satellite signal detection (Active Holdover : AHO). An experimental evaluation result of the improvement of time synchronization precision with proposed systems is reported. |
