[Invited Talk] Trend and NEC's Activities for Mobile Edge Computing

(in English) In recent years, the research activities toward the fifth-generation wireless systems (5G) has become active in the mobile network area, in which Japan has also established "The Fifth Generation Mobile Communications Promotion Forum (5GMF)". As one of the topics for discussion in 5G, Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is regarded as a promising technology which can create great value in infrastructure construction in stepping towards the era of IoT (Internet of Things). For the status of industry, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) established a new Industry Specification Group (ISG) MEC in October 2014. This talk presents the trend and NEC's activities for the MEC, which will be a part of the next generation integrated architecture of mobile network and IT service platform.
