[Invited Talk] Topics of Elastic Wave Propagation along Cable -- Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge Cable and Violin String --

(in English) When cat-walk cables collide each other by the wind, abnormal noise that sounds as "Hyuuon" is observed near the anchor of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. This abnormal sound is certified to be the bending wave propagation whose propagation speed depends on the frequency. Then, new identification method of bending stiffness and tension at one time is proposed, and verified by using several natural frequencies for tensile cable systems . The stick-slip vibration of violin strings is also studied. Wave propagation is expressed in a local neighborhood rule of cellular automata that superimposes the reflecting wave and traveling wave. Without using the sinusoidal function, proposed method has succeeded in reproducing the saw-tooth wave at an arbitrary position of strings and the Helmholtz wave (triangle wave), which represents vibration displacement along strings. Above three phenomena of wave propagation are explained from the point view of elastic wave.
