Estimation of transmission line susceptibility to plane wave using BCI test method -- Theoretical examination --

(in English) A bulk current injection (BCI) test is carried out to clarify the conducted immunity of electronic equip-ment for an external electromagnetic (EM) interference. Because a BCI probe is used for the injection of an electric current to the transmission line in the BCI test, it is hypothesized that a magnetic-field coupling will be dominant between the BCI probe and the transmission line, and the coupling mechanism is different from that for applying a plane EM field to the transmission line. It is expected that the immunity to the plane EM field can be estimated from the results of the BCI test. This paper reveals the current-injection mechanism in the BCI test by using the theoretical circuit concept approach. Moreover, the susceptibility difference of the transmission lines between for the BCI test and for applying the plane EM field is shown experimentally.
