Digital Soft-Start Method with Function Switching for DC-DC Converter

(in English) This paper proposes a novel digital soft-start control method of dc-dc converter. Previous studies discussed about how to change the speed of the soft-start operation depending on the value of sensed load current using an exponential function based soft-start and a linear function based soft-start. This soft-start method has a difficulty in improving the performance in a wide range of the load condition. In the proposed method, two types of soft-start function are combined to change the reference value in the PID control. From simulation results, it is confirmed that the soft-start characteristics is improved in cases of the various load conditions.
