Resonator Fiber Optic Gyro (R-FOG) is required to compensate the reciprocal resonance-frequency change in the fiber ring resonator to detect input rotation which is proportional to the non-reciprocal difference of resonance-frequencies between the CW and CCW lights. For that, the input light source frequency or resonator length is usually needed to be fed back to track a resonance-frequency continuously. However, the control capabilities of light source frequency and resonator length is not enough to compensate frequency shifts, mainly caused by ambient temperature change. In this paper, a novel method is proposed to track a resonance-frequency, by using the digital-serrodyne phase modulation scheme which has periodical waveform transformations, without feedback to the light source or resonator length. And we demonstrated the R-FOG by using this method and detected Saganc effect of rotation. |
