To investigate a potential application of the coherent OTDR in the field of measuring distributed dynamic strain or detecting distributed ultrasonic waves, we conducted numerical simulations on the Rayleigh backscattering of coherent light pulses in fibers in which sonic and ultrasonic waves are present. The simulation revealed the impact of sonic and ultrasonic waves on the optical power and the phase of the backscattered light waves. |
