In recent years, sleep apnea syndrome (SAS) has been attracting attention. The disease is primarily caused by upper airway collapse. As an apparatus for treating and avoiding the SAS, various devices have been developed. For example, CPAP can avoid apnea to feed air into user’s airway with the mask. In addition, there is a method using a robot to facilitate turn over by detecting apnea and giving a stimulus to the user during sleep. However, these devices have the common problem. They does not consider the quality of sleep by stress due to restraint sensing and irritation. In this research, we propose the method of reducing the airway collapse during sleep in a non-restraint and non-invasive. The proposed system detects neck position and apnea during sleep by using sound and pressure sensors. And based on them, we reduce risk of sleep apnea by lifting the neck using air-pomp in a pillow. |
