Electromagnetic Analysis Attack for Simeck and Simon

(in English) The risk of attack against IoT devices has been increased. Since IoT devices require constraint of area and power consumption, lightweight block ciphers, which can be implemented on small area, have been attracted attention. Regarding the security of cryptographic circuit, the threat of electromagnetic analysis is pointed out. Many studies of electromagnetic analysis for standard cipher AES have been reported. However, that for lightweight block cipher Simeck and Simon have not been reported. Therefore, this study proposes a new electromagnetic analysis for Simeck and Simon. The proposed method performs an analysis based on DEMA and CEMA which are typical electromagnetic analysis methods. Moreover, the proposed method utilizes multiple rounds, realizes the high attack accuracy. Experiments using a FPGA show the vulnerability of Simeck and Simon against electromagnetic analysis and the validity of the proposed method.
