Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The overlaid cell structure, in which a large number of small cells are deployed in a macro-cell coverage area, is considered to be a promising approach in order to accommodate rapidly increasing mobile data traffic. In the layered cell structure, eICIC (enhanced Inter-Cell Interference Coordination) is an essential technique to avoid the interference between the macro cells and the small cells when co-channel deployment is used. eICIC conducts interference coordination in the time domain. Therefore, accurate timing synchronization is required between the macro cells and the small cells. Although a timing synchronization method using GPS are widely known, it cannot be used indoors, so network-listening based synchronization is considered to be an effective synchronization method to synchronize the transmission timing between small cells and macro cells easily in even indoor environments. In the network-listening, small cells synchronizes own transmission timing with macro cells by receiving the macro-cell downlink signals. However, the loop-back signal from the small cells itself interferes the reception of the macro-cell synchronization signal. In order to solve the problem, we proposed to mute the transmission and avoid loop-back self-interference. However, the spectral efficiency is deteriorated by muting the transmission itself. In this paper, we propose a synchronization method that cancel loop-back self-interference without muting the transmission itself. In this paper, we clarify its synchronization accuracy by computer simulations using real signal waveform.
