A Visual-Word Based Feature Transformation System in Computer Aided Diagnosis for Colorectal Endoscopic Images

(in English) This paper describes a feature transformation processing in our eCAD system for colorectal endoscopic Full HD images with Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) magnification. It transforms the extracted D-SIFT features from colorectal endoscopic images to Visual Word (VW) histogram. In order to real-time Computer-Aided Diagnosis by eCAD, it is necessary to implement the system on hardware. We designed feature transformation architecture for eCAD, implemented it on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), and estimated the design. We also apply Hardware/Software co-design in our eCAD system implementation, in which feature extraction and type identification occur on Software and feature transformation occurs on Hardware. As a result, we achieved more throughput 1 fps was not possible with software implementation. Real-time CAD is achieved.
