A High-speed Feature Extraction System in Computer Aided Diagnosis for Colorectal Endoscopic Images

(in English) This paper aims to build a Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) system for pathology identification based on feature of fine vascular patterns of the large intestine mucosa surface obtained by colorectal endoscopic images with narrow band imaging (NBI) magnification. In order to achieve real-time recognition, implementation of CAD system on FPGA is necessary. This paper introduces a suitable feature extraction implementation on FPGA, which can process 48 fps@100MHz, with latency 20 msec/frame. In addition, this paper also shows detection method of overexposure area presented on endoscopic image, as well as the correction processing for feature extraction, which prevent mistake in type identification for CAD system.
