Verification of Division Property and High-Order Differential Characteristic of Lightweight Blockcipher Piccolo

(in English) Integral property has been generalized and rede ned by the division property that was proposed by Todo of NTT in EUROCRYPT2015. It is easy to derive the integral properties by using DP rather than the con-
ventional method. Todo showed the full-round analysis of MISTY1 block cipher by using DP in ECYPT2015. After that, Kaneko clari ed that the best integral property is equivalent to the higher-order differential property. Piccolo is a lightweight block cipher proposed by Shibuya et al., in CHES2011. Size of private key of Piccolo is 80bits or 128bits, block length is 64bits, and the structure is a modi ed Feistel Network. In this paper, we apply the Todo method to the structure of the Piccolo to derive it's integral properties, and compare the property to the higher-order differential property. We nd that the propagation rules of DP could degrade the integral characteristics. Key words Piccolo, Division Property, Higher-order differential property, Block Cipher
