Analysis between Degree of Players' Utterance, Behavior and Team Performance in a Cooperative Game

(in English) A team makes decision rather than an individual in a company. If attributes of a team can be measured quantitatively, it will help to improve a quality of the decision-making. Therefore we quantitatively measured a relation between behaviors of subjects and a team performance, using a cooperative-type board game: "Forbidden Island". In order to measure the amount of movement and voice of the subject, each subject wore an Android smartphone equipped with an acceleration sensor and volume measurement application. The experiments were run the 8 cases twice (total 16 cases). As a result, in the case where a leader existed, game success rate was higher. In addition, we found that speech amount of successful leader was large. In the cases where the game succeeds, the amount of movement of the subjects was small and therefore they were not much moving around. Moreover at the time of their utterances, the standard deviation of the volume was small. Therefore they were speaking relatively less intonation.
